PMD Review

Have you been searching for an at home treatment that can give your skin a beautiful, radiant glow? I think I’ve found just the thing. I’ve been a long time fan of Microdermabrasion, and now there is an at home device that can give you wonderful results.

If you’re not familiar with Microdermabrasion, and have never had this salon treatment  before, let me elaborate.

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that exfoliates the skin with a handheld device that treats the most outer layer that contains dead skin cells using crystals and suction. It is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as acne scars, large pores, fine lines, and helps to even skin tone. The treatment is almost painless, with a light stinging sensation from the layers of skin being exfoliated.

I’ve had about a hand full of microdermabrasion treatments. Microdermabrasion treatments can range anywhere from $75 to $200 a session with the average cost, according to 2014 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, being $143. That makes finding an affordable at home version even more amazing.

I’ve tested out the PMD Personal Microderm Kit for about a month now. I followed the instructions very carefully, and suggest that you do the same. Do not go over an area more than twice, and keep treatments well spaced out. I would wait a full two weeks between the first treatment to the second, and make sure to use the white training disc for your first use.

If you have very sensitive skin be extra cautious, as this type of exfoliation can aggravate your skin. Over use can cause damage to your skin. Remember that you are exfoliating, and that too much can be harmful to your skin. Be patient, less is more. One more thing, it is almost painless. Redness right after use is common, but goes away within a few hours.

I can say that my skin is softer, and has a healthy glow after two uses. I’ve also noticed that my fine lines look a little softer. And, with this little hand-held device costing around the average of one single microdermabrasion session I think it is a great buy. I’ll be adding THIS at home treatment to my beauty routine.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!!!  Hooray for Friday.  OH I am so glad to see this day.  It has been a long 6 weeks.  We are so exited to see Daddy.  Plus spring is in the air here and I had all my windows open yesterday.  It has just been a great week.  I feel summer coming and I couldn't be more excited.

As always I am linking up with Narci, Erika & Andrea to bring you my favorites of the week.

Let's get started.

I have been using this mask nightly.  It is so smooth and doesn't leave your face feeling sticky.  It is great for that extra hydration.  I sometimes will use it in the morning if I don't plan on putting on any make up.  I suppose you could apply a thin layer and use it as a primer.  For the amount of product you get vs the cost it is really a great bargain.  I have incorporated this into my daily product use.

I started buying Beauty Counter products when I saw them at Target.  I didn't purchase mine there but seeing them sparked my interest in learning more about the natural side of makeup and beauty products.  During the holiday months they were having a really great sale.  Buy one get one free of these charcoal bars.  I have heard great things about charcoal so I figured I would give it a try and I love how it takes off any excess makeup that say a makeup remover leaves behind.  I also got two oils as a buy one get one.  I bought the hydrating oil and the soothing oil.  Both smell amazing.

I add a few drops of this oil into my moisturizer.  I even will add a tiny drop on my beauty blender when putting on foundation.

I finally cleared any breakouts I was having and started using my reverse line from R + F.  I didn't like using this when I had active breakouts because I felt like it was making them more red and obvious.  Now I am back on the schedule of using this nightly.  I love the smell of this stuff.

I bought this book at bj's on a whim.  I knew I wanted to buy that nutri-bullet and I figured this would be a great resource.  I have been picking recipes randomly and I have been loving them.  Sometimes I don't always have the exact ingredients so I mix and match but for the most part they're pretty basic.  I have been loving my bullet.  It is so easy to whip up a healthy smoothie with very little mess.

I feel like I have been living under a rock.  A long time ago I finally called my mom and said "mom- why does my oven smoke every time I bake this bread" she asked me what I was doing, and how I was preparing my pan.. she said to me "Loren, you can't put wax paper in the oven" ding ding ding ding.  WAX WHAT.  All that time I didn't realize there was a big difference between wax and parchment.  Um, hello.  I guess yes I do live under a rock.  However, now parchment paper and I are best friends.  I use it under most everything I cook and BAM little mess, no smoke and for some reason my veggies taste extra yummy.

That is about it for my favorites this week.  I am super excited for Matt to get in tonight.  We are hoping to grab dinner after he lands but more than likely he will be excited and want to get home so breakfast in the morning with the kiddo's is what's up.

Have a great weekend.

Life Lately

Yay, Thursday.  Preparation Day!

If you don't know, now you know.  Today we prepare for Daddy's arrival.  He lands in Boston tomorrow night so that means today we are cleaning, organizing and shopping.

I like to make sure the house is spotless, all his laundry is clean and organized in his drawers.  You can read about that HERE.

I buy all his favorites foods and do a major grocery shop.  I stock up on beer and liquor.  I clean the garage bc I've been known to skip recycling days and have stockpiles of trash... I buy some special treats and then we just wait.  It is such a fun day preparing for Daddy.  The boys make cards and decorations, paint pictures and clean up the toys in the garage.

But first, let me share with you a little Life Lately.

After church last week we went to Trader Joe's and bought ingredients to make pizzas.  Evan loves eating the dough and rolling it out.  It is such a fun activity to decorate your own pizza.

Ryan has no complaints about the taste of his pizza.

You know mama needs a break when she is now receiving private puppet shows during a relaxing bubble bath.

Long days of playing outside in beautiful weather wipes you out.  Evan didn't even make it to bed time.

I took the boys skiing earlier this week and they loved it.  Evan has been asking when we are going back and when his next lesson is.  Ryan was such a good little brother helping Evan with his skis and eating snow :)

The weather was gorgeous.  We have been having some unseasonably warm temps lately but I am not complaining.

Hopefully we can get back out there this coming week with Matt.

He is all smiles!

Ya'll!  I have been loving this book.  I have been making a ton of smoothies in my nutri-bullet.  It is so easy and I am focusing on health and immunity.  I also like to create recipes that help with bloating.

Bonus for the recipes being gluten free and dairy free.

This is boy life.  Find all the weapons and put them in your "holster" aka pajama pants.

Matt sent me this photo while he was in Canada.  How gorgeous.  That is most likely a coyote or fox. That pink sky!

I had a much needed mommy day.  I went into the city and did a little shopping.

We can't wait until Daddy is home.   Just counting down the minutes.

There is a little life lately for you.  I hope you guys have a great day.  See you tomorrow.

What's Up Wednesday

Hi!  I feel like its been a while since I did one of these posts.   The last Wednesday of the month I link up with The Larson Lingo, Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer Told Me To to answer these questions.

In our What's Up Wednesday post- so lets take a look.

What we're eating this week...

I recently went off my IP diet.  If you are interested in what I eat when I am on this you can see my post HERE.  It is just really hard to be on the IP diet when I am going through fertility treatments since all the meds cause weight gains and bloating so I got off but after this is all over, depending on the outcome I'll pick it back up.

I've been adding these into our meals this week.  They are delish and sometimes I use a little butternut squash sauce and the kids love this.

I made a sweet kale salad with grilled chicken.  I added carrots, green apples, cucumber, cilantro, avo and a little pancetta.  It was so yum!  The kids loved it and I added a little greek yogurt dressing I made earlier in the week.  So yummy with the pancetta.  It adds a little extra crisp.

What I'm reminiscing about...

We are gearing up for another fun Easter around these parts.  The boys are so excited to get out our decorations and they are looking forward to seeing that cute bunny.  I remember these pictures like they were yesterday.  I swear Evan was 8months old just the other day.  Why does it go so fast... yet at 2am when they are up wide awake, the clock moves so slow.

What I'm loving...

I bought this cookbook at Anthropologie over the summer and I have been making a lot of new recipes.  It is such a good read and the pictures are amazing.  If you can't find it anymore at Anthro I know that amazon carries it.

What we've been up to...

This guy has been taking ski lessons.  He did amazing his first day.  I was so proud of him.  I had one smiling and laughing the entire day and the other guy crying because all he wanted to do was ski like his brother.  Soon bud, so soon.

What I'm dreading...

You IVF ladies know what I mean... The dreaded two week wait.  After our upcoming transfer I need to wait two weeks to see if it worked.  That is torture.  I heard this book is really great, I should give it a go.  Hopefully it will pass the time and keep my mind focused on something else.

What I'm working on...

I am creating more content for the blog and also pinning away like crazy as we start to get ready for spring renovations up north.

What I'm excited about...

Ahh, so excited for spring and our trip down south.  I booked a trip for me and the kids to go see family and friends the last two weeks of Matt's next hitch in Korea.  I hope that we leave Massachusetts with frigid cold temps and gray skies... and come back to spring with green grass and chirping birds.

What I'm watching/reading...

I am reading The Twilight Wife.  I am struggling a bit bc I am not totally in love with it yet but I want to figure out the truth behind her story so I am still going strong.  Also, I am super excited for this show to start back up again next week.

I loved the first season.  It took almost an entire year to come back to TV but I am excited.  I can't wait to find out what happens.

What I'm listening to...

Ever since Mix and Match Mama mentioned she listens to the french cooking channel throughout her home.... I started and I became addicted.  I play it in my kitchen through Alexa... and every morning I turn it on and it carries me through the day.  I also added the italian channel which I totally love as well.  She is playing now.

What I'm wearing...
yes to carrots sheet mask (soothe)

alba botanica

neutrogena acne light therapy mask

acure brightening scrub

glow mask

I know you ladies expected to see some threads but nope.  These are the masks that have been on rotation.  I have been wearing one a night and I have to say I am noticing huge improvements in my skin.  Not only am I using a mask or some sort of funky pink device but I also am using serums and creams/lotions as part of my daily routine as well.  I also love a good ol' biore pore strip.

What I'm doing this weekend...

Daddy is coming home this weekend after a long 6 weeks.  Oh man, it has been a rough go.  We got nailed with snow, hit with a weeks worth of stomach bug garbage, and I started my 4th IVF cycle.  Lots of needles, blood work, ultrasounds -the works.  So I am super excited to get back into a relaxing mode and enjoy the two weeks we have together before he is gone again.  Jeesh - time flies.

What I'm looking forward to next month...

Lounging and relaxing in these cabanas.  OK, so I won't be lounging and it will hardly be relaxing.  I am a mom.  Of two boys.  At a beach.  But the last time I was here I was pregnant, lounging and relaxing.  That is how I remember it.  I just can't wait to go back and feel that warm sun and share this experience with my boys.

What else is new...
I can't think of anything else.  I am pretty much doing the same ol' same ol' !!

What is the one beauty product I can't live without?

That is a tough one.
I can't pick just one but I suppose if I must I would probably say moisturizer.  I can't live without something covering my face.   Right now I am using a medical grade made by my esthetician.  If you are local to Boston area you can get it.  It is calming fluid and works amazing.

Hope to see you tomorrow, thanks for stopping in.
