Giving Back To Riverside

What a year!  Wow :)

How awesome to be ending and closing out 2016 with an amazing feel good gift.

Each year Riverside Community Care provides more than 40,000 children, adolescents, and adults with a broad range of behavioral healthcare and human services.  We offer mental healthcare, developmental and brain injury services, youth and early childhood programs, addiction treatment, trauma response, and more.

Riverside Community Care is an award-winning, non-profit organization offering emergency care, urgent and outpatient services, in-home and residential care, psychiatric day programming, early intervention, employment support and domestic violence services throughout eastern and central Massachusetts.

They partner with local hospitals and physicians, and work with most insurers and MassHealth.  And, Riverside is where your community, schools, and workplaces turn when faced with the emotional aftermath of tragic events such as teen suicides or natural disasters.

The United Parish of Upton Sunday school students collected $100 over the course of a few months.  These donations were raised to buy Christmas presents for the kids at Riverside.  With the help of Stonyfield Yogurt and my personal matching donation, we were able raise $200 for the kids.

One Sunday after church another teacher and myself took some of the students to Target to shop for these littles and let me tell you!!!  It was so much fun.  Teaching our kids about giving back was probably the most rewarding experience.  Seeing how they reacted to the stories of some of the less fortunate made my mama heart burst.  I am certainly doing something right.

Shopping for Christmas gifts a few days before the holiday was pure chaos, but so much excitement.

We weren't able to wrap the gifts as Riverside prefers for them to be bagged and labeled but if only we could see the joy on the faces of the kids opening these gifts... what a moment.

I am so thankful to be a part of this giving experience.  I hope that this story inspires so many of you to pay it forward... and remember the less fortunate all days of the year and not just around the holiday.

Here are a few of the gifts that the lucky littles were to receive this Christmas.

Thank you Stonyfield Yogurt for providing such a wonderful gift and life changing experience for the students at United Parish and Riverside Community Care.
