Friday Favorites

Wow, it is Friday already.  That was fast.  I know some of you were waiting patiently for this day but for me, it snuck up on me.  I had so many crazy exciting things happen this week.

I am linking up with Erika, Narcy and Andrea to bring you my favorites of the week.

I have been striving each day to do better, make healthier choices and provide the most nutritious meals for my family.  My friend Susie sent me this website last night and I became absorbed in all things organic.  There is so much information on this site.  You have to check it out.

I am always inspired by healthy cooking and this website will not disappoint.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I picked up this book at Target.  I started reading it and I can't put it down.  I think Marie is describing me to a T during certain points and I find myself nodding my head in agreement with almost every other word, not to mention I want to hand this book out to everyone I know and say, see I told you so.  You should check it out if you are obsessed with cleaning and organizing like me.

I just discovered white pumpkins people.  White pumpkins.  Where was I living, under a rock?  Apparently!  I just love them.  Is it strange that I wonder when I cut into it, if it is orange, or is it white?  None the less I will eat the seeds.  Just so cute!  Love my white pumpkins.

We were wait listed for a playgroup that is held in the town next to us and I am so glad that this week we got a call saying we were in.  I was so excited and my boys were able to participate this week.  They loved it and there was so much to see and do.

Every room has a little theme of toys.  They play for a bit, then get called in for snack and story.

This will be the perfect activity to do on those cold days that we have coming.

Ryan really didn't want to sit long for his snack.  He took off and left his little brother to eat all the goods.

I made a double chocolate zucchini bread this week and boy was it delicious.  The boys didn't even remember that the zucchini we were grating earlier was for this recipe.  It was funny because while we were preparing it, Evan says I don't like zucchini bread because it has zucchini in it... an hour later, the bread was cooked and cooled and I hear, mom, can I have another piece of that chocolate bread.  win. win.

I have been on the clean eating, organizing and decluttering train since like, IDK, day 1 of starting this blog and late last night I got sucked into reading almost every little thing from Live Simply.  She is my new favorite.  I love everything about her little blog and all her creative ideas and recipes.  Go check her out.  Don't you just love when you stumble across something so inspiring you get so sucked in that you don't realize it is way past your bed time.

I am loving this scarf.  It can be worn with so many different colors.

There you have it friends, all things favorite for the week.  I have so many activities planned for the weekend but the weather does not look so great for us.  We have a lot of rain in the forecast which is  a big bummer because I was hoping to get to the apple orchard to bake some nice pies for my ladies at the senior center.  Every year they do a little fall festival to raise money and I am the apple crisp expert.  I donate a bunch of small little pies for them to sell and of course keep a few for myself.

Have a great weekend, gear up for a great week and I'll see you Monday with my weekend recap.

Life Lately

Hey There! Thursday!  Welcome....

I have been super busy this week preparing for the arctic.  No, not really.  However, we went from wearing shorts to wearing hats and uggs in like- a hot minute.  I mean, today at the post office I saw a older woman wearing a winter jacket and gloves.  I was still wearing flip flops.  Now, don't get me wrong.  I was a little chilly but still... I was wearing flip flops.  My first thought was if she is wearing this now while it is 57 degrees, and I am wearing flip flops... what does she do in January... does she just not leave the house?

Any who... back to life lately.  We are pretty much halfway through our hitch and I already am feeling like I need to tap out.  So much stuff has been going on around here... and we are super busy.  Evan has school three days a week, I am trying to get double doses of work out classes in, swim lessons, soccer practice, Sunday school, & play group... I need a drink.  Or an espresso shot.

On Friday Evan only has school until noon time so we have a good half day to spend doing fun stuff. On this particular day he asked if we could go to Davis Farm so of course, off we went.  He is so happy he is big enough to be able to drive these little carts.  He has waited 4 years to reach those pedals, and I can't get him off of this.

Ryan didn't want to ride the slide so we watched on the side line.  This slide is pretty fast and Evan loves it.  It is made from a pool liner, who woulda-thunk it.

We went in to see the baby cakes and this one in particular loved my shirt.

Ryan is such a climber now.  He is so independent.

Never in a million years did I think that Ryan would jump at the chance to feed a baby cow.  He was always so shy and timid around the bigger animals.  When the bottle was gone, he was sad and wanted to keep feeding her.

These cows are cuties.  Matt has been asking me for years to get a cow.  I think these little ladies did a number on me, maybe some day we will have one of our own.

While walking through the farm we made a friend.  This little guy followed the boys around nibbling at their shorts until they picked him up to cuddle.

We had so much fun on this farm trip.

The other day I took Evan to snip-its for a hair cut.  I was very hesitant for a while to cut it but I figured he needed a little trim.  He looks adorable.  I just love how it came out.  I am not typically impressed with snip its but she did great.  I didn't have Ryan's cut because he is still growing out his Lloyd Christmas cut from the last lady at snip-its.

We had fun at the library this week!  We have been reading a lot about pumpkins and witches.  Evan loves that he can take books home from the library.  It is his new found passion.

Ryan and I watched a cute little puppet show.

A while back I missed a registration dateline for a community play group and I was so disappointed.  For the heck of it I decided to join the wait list and after two classes we got a call that  there was a spot and we were so excited.

The boys had so much fun.  They were playing with all the toys in all the rooms.  They played with each other and independent.  I am so happy we got in and look forward to signing up for the next one this winter.

Does this scarf scream fall!  YES!  Love the color and I can wear it with all of my vests.  Double yes.

I snagged this book from Target the other day.  I can't wait to read it.

I put together a quick road snack this morning.  All I added was dried cherries, small peanut butter cup chips, cashews & almonds.  Delicious.  The boys love it to.

We are in serious pizza making mode.  How else would I get my kids to eat veggies!!  ??  Add them to the pizza - duh.

Guys- seriously.  This kid had a real case of the Monday's the other day.

A great girlfriend of mine @journey2health_mom23 sent me this face mask after I participated in her eating clean challenge group on face book.  It was pretty amazing.  I am not sure if I put the mask on correctly but none the less felt very fancy wearing it.  OH, speaking of clean eating and journey to health- my friend is hosting another challenge coming up.  It is going to concentrate on meal plans, shopping lists, crock pot & fall recipes and work outs.  SIGN UP.  Do it w/ me, lets inspire each other.  OH, an you win some pretty cool prizes... like this face mask.

I whipped up a quick double chocolate zucchini bread the other day.  Again, hiding those veggies... I love feeling sneaky.  The best part, the kids added the dark chocolate chips and was even more excited to eat it.

That is our life lately.  Thank you for following along and stopping in.  Stop by tomorrow to check out my friday favorites.  I got some stuff to share...

What's Up Wednesday

I look forward to this link up every month.  It is a break down on everything that is going on with me and my little family, all compacted into one blog post.  I also have a sweet spot for this link up because it was the first one that I did when I started blogging.

So every month, on the last Wednesday,  I link up with The Larson Lingo, Mix & Match Mama & Sheaffer Told Me To

We answer the following questions:

Let's get started:

What we're eating this week...

We have been making a lot of homemade pizza.  It is so easy and I discovered the best way to get my kids to eat vegetables.  Have them put it on their pizza themselves.  It is like magic.

I have been eating a ton of salad.  I go through phases where I can eat the same salad over and over and never get sick of it.

Fall means comfort food and I have been doing just that.  I have been comforting myself and my family with warm, filling, and easy to make meals.  The boys love anything gravy and my chicken pot pie (with hidden veggies) is on our menu weekly.

What I'm reminiscing about...

Me and a gigantic belly :)

Is this not the portrait of a pregnant than I don't know what is?!?! I think I gave birth the next day.

What I'm loving...

I am on an all white kick.  A cozy, all white bedding look and I have been looking on pinterest like crazy.  I just can't get it to look quite right.  I think what I find most attractive about all white bedding is that almost every picture I look at the bed is "undone" if that makes sense.  It just looks awesome messy.

I also have been looking a ton on etsy for one of these thick knit blankets.  Problem is I really don't want to spend $400 on a knit blanket when I feel like I could do that myself.

What we've been up to...

We have been riding our four wheelers and dirt bikes after school and on any nice day!

Hitting up the playground after school pick up is high priority.

Big boy bed snuggles!

This kid cracks me up!  Always thinking :)

Just another after school swing date.

It is that time of year where the mornings are really cool and it just isn't cold enough for fleece feetie pajamas so I layer up the boys in an extra layer of heavy material to keep them warm.  Ryan had a bad case of the Monday's this week.

What I'm dreading...

I know we have a little bit of time before this white stuff hits us here in New England however, I am already dreading it.

What I'm working on...

So... here it is guys.  Big news hidden in a tiny blog post.  We are purchasing a home in New Hampshire!  We are going to be living here in Massachusetts while we renovate it completely and eventually start a new life living free!  I am not sure exactly our time line but all my cleaning, organizing, and de-cluttering does have its purpose.  I am excited for all things new.  Check out my Pinterest board to see what I am thinking about doing to our new home.

What I'm excited about...

In other big blogger news.... :) this one is going to be kept secret a little bit longer... but use your imagination.

What I'm watching/reading...

Just watched the first episode.  I just can't understand how this show can keep on going but it has me coming back for more every week.

I am so looking forward to this little comedy show.  It reminds me a lot of when I was a kid or at least a bit younger before I was watching hour long drama tv... the light hearted funny 30 minute episodes... kinda like Friends, or King of Queens.  I hope this is as good as the previews.

Picked this little pretty lady up the other day.

I have been referencing this a lot lately.  I just made her ranch dressing and you know what, my kids didn't even notice the switch.

What I'm listening to...

Ryan goes to bed at 6pm... and I have this playing in his room and I accidentally left the baby monitor on so I can hear this playing in my living room.  Makes me miss those really late night feedings.

What I'm wearing...

I am embracing my inner hippie.  Or at least trying.  Am I getting it right?

What I'm doing this weekend...

We have a little boy's birthday party to go to and we are pretty excited.

Plus the usual, soccer on Saturday morning.

OH, and don't forget!  We are cleaning.  We are organizing.  We are decluttering.  & we are loving it. OK, I am loving it.  Everyone else is seriously over me asking them if they think they can part with something.

What I'm looking forward to next month...

We will be reunited mid October and I am totally excited.  We have so many things planned and we are really looking forward to a fall foliage boat ride and maybe snagging a few apples from the orchard if there is anything left.  Plus, lets check on that honey do list.  We are going to be doing a lot of "little" things to the house preparing to sell it.  Plus, the yard will probably be covered in leaves so that will need to get done.. and let's not forget.  Halloween!  So excited for next month.

What else is new...

I have been "catching" up with laundry since the day I had a baby.  I seriously feel like I am always doing it and I am always waiting for either a spin cycle, quick wash, tumble dry, or dewrinkle.. I am always working with my washing machine/dryer.  I guess the story is true, unless you are doing laundry naked you are never going to be caught up.

Bonus Question:
What is your favorite fall recipe?

This answer was easy.  It is my easy pumpkin bread.  I can't even tell you how easy this is and how many people love it.  All I do is take a can of pumpkin puree and a box of box cake mix (pumpkin spice)  Some days I ad in nuts or raisins, or make a quick glaze for the top.  It is delicious and so easy.  It is always moist.  My kids love it.  I can't say it enough.  EASY!

There you have it, a quick run down synopsis of my little life.

If you want to join us we link up on the last Wednesday of every month.  Thanks for stopping over here and checking out my little space on the internet.  Have a great day!
